Thanks go to, Paul, Amanda, Julie and Ken for taking us all on the holiday and for helping with the fishing, cleaning and the catering. We hope that you will be able to take us again sometime and again we thank you!!
Peter caught a 24lb 5oz carp on the holiday, so he is very glad he was able to go.
This is his personal best.
Pictures from the holiday now on the 'photo' page.
THANKS TO ADEVA CAR HIRE!
WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ADEVA CAR HIRE PRESTON FOR LETTING US HIRE THE CARS TO TAKE ON THE HOLIDAY!!
Thanks to all who attended the working party on Wednesday. Due to it being freezing cold and rather soggy underfoot, there are still jobs which need to be done and weather permitting, there will be another date soon for 'mucking in and helping'. Watch this space.
Don't forget, many hands make light work!!!
CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISER
There will be a fundraiser at Overton School, date still to be confirmed. We can do any sort of stall we like, but space is limited, anyone got any ideas for something different? Please let a committee member know if you have any suggestions.
Quiz.
Diane has been busy doing a Christmas Quiz. This is ready NOW!! It's only a few weeks off you know!
There will be some available at the match at Borwick. If you can offer to sell some for us that would be great. Or if you know of a shop or business which can sell some for us, let Diane know and she will let you have a 'bundle'.
Until further notice NO NETS of any kind will be allowed at Horseshoe Lake!
There are clean landing nets available at the lake - DO NOT USE YOURS!!!
Thank you
Here at Morecambe & District Junior Anglers we teach young people how to enjoy angling and how to look after the environment.
We have our own lake, HorseshoeLake at DockerPark Farm near Carnforth, which is strictly for members and their guests only!
We teach the country code, how identify and look after different species of fish. We have numerous bird and bat boxes at our lake and soon we will have lots of hedgehog houses. We have a variety of native trees, wild flowers and fruits which all help to encourage wildlife to make a home and thrive at our lake.
MAD strongly encourage families to visit our lake, we have made various provision including hot drinks facilities, a toilet and a picnic area.
MAD are a non-profit making voluntary group based in the North Lancashire/ South Lakes area and receive no government funding. We rely totally on donations to keep operating. If you would like to help us by becoming a volunteer or would like to make a donation please email the club at the above email address.
We have rescued various animals since we started the club. We have taken in a rehoused 2 ducks, 1 chicken and a hedgehog. We place food at the lake for our hedgehogs, we have put various bird and bat boxes on trees to encourage them to make a home there, we have log piles and wildflowers to encourage insects.
Hi everyone, just to let you all know that I am making contacts and arranging dates for fundraisers for the coming year. SO WATCH THIS SPACE. I WILL NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!! Any ideas or suggestions then let me know. Julie Mcclements
If you take anybody to Horseshoe Lake as a guest, please make sure you filled in their guest ticket & that you have filled in the return form and handed into a member of the committee.
You have to do this or your guest will NOT be covered by our insurance.
If you require another guest ticket please contact Diane and hand your guest ticket request form.
Remember to sign in and out, even if you or anybody else stays just 30 seconds - it is needed as part of our child protection.
